Of course, there are sub-steps to each of these general steps and they differ ever so slightly from graphic design, to web design to logo design, BUT this is a fantastic framework that should yield solid results.
1. Identify the goal
What needs to be accomplished? Capture more leads? Enhance credibility? In this case we're creating assets for an awareness campaign.
2. Research
Figure out who's going to see this and what they're like. Check what competitors are putting out and start thinking about how to differentiate.
3. Prepare the content
If you already have copy, imagery, illustrations and other brand assets at your disposal, then make sure you have them all ready to go in one place.
4. Collect inspiration
A critical step. Carry this out with intention so you can awaken new ideas. "Every new idea is just a mashup or remix of one or more.
5. Execute
This is where it all comes together. Combine, modify, subtract, and add things from your inspiration all while considering the goal and your research.
6. Listen & improve
This is especially pertinent for something like a website. Make it easy for people to provide feedback, whether that's contact info, a chatbot or anything in between.
